A local community club for which I was the starting Left Back. During my time at the club we were the champions of various community and provincial leagues.

 Sept 2001 – Dec 2002 Marcelinho Football Club, Brazil

I was scouted to play for the club opened by a former Corinthians Football Club player Marcelinho Carioca. Selected as the starting Left Winger for the Under 15’s Youth Squad I had the opportunity to participate in various Sao Paulo city based leagues.

 Jan 2003 – Jul 2003 Sao Paulo Football Center, Brazil

I was transferred to play as the Left Winger for the Under 16’s Youth Squad of the above mentioned Center, which was affiliated with the Marcelinho Football Club, by request of the coach at the time.

Sept 2003 – Dec 2003 Juventus Football Club (2^nd Division), Brazil

By affiliation with my previous clubs I was transferred to the Under 16’s Youth Squad for the above club and represented them in various Sao Paulo city leagues playing as their Left Back.

 Jan 2004 – Jun 2004 Corinthians Football Club (1^st Division), Brazil

I was invited to try out for the Under 17’s Futsal Youth Squad by the club’s scouts and was then selected to join the team to play as a Left back (Ala Esquerda). Once again I had the chance to represent the club in the Sao Paulo city leagues.

My agent at the time had me transferred to the Under 20’s Squad of the above club. I played for the team as a Left Back in the Sao Paulo city leagues. I was also offered an opportunity to play for the club in a league in Uruguay but due to various reasons I was unable to do so.

Football Career

Portugal

Born in Sergipe, Detinho only started playing organised football well in his 20s. In 1997 he moved to Portugal where he remained for the following nine years, starting with F.C. Paços de Ferreira in the second division and moving to SC Vianense in the third level after a few months.

Subsequently Detinho represented U.D. Oliveirense and F.C. Marco in division three, his performances with the latter attracting the attention of Primeira Liga club S.C. Campomaiorense who purchased him for the 2000–01 season, and he responded by scoring eight goals in 29 games to finish team top scorer, even though it was not good enough to prevent relegation.^[1][2]

Detinho signed with Leixões S.C. in the third tier in late September 2001. He netted ten times in the league his first year, adding three in the club’s historic campaign in the Portuguese Cup which ended in the final against Sporting Clube de Portugal (0–1, he played the full 90 minutes^[3]).^[4] he repeated numbers in the following season, helping achieve promotion;^[5] after the previous domestic cup exploits he competed with the Matosinhos side in the 2002–03 UEFA Cup, scoring in a 2–1 home win against PAOK FC for the first round (3–5 aggregate loss)

South China

Detinho joined South China AA in 2006 from Imortal DC, after the team gave up its “all-Chinese” policy. He had a very successful first season in the Hong Kong First Division League, being chosen South China Star of the Month three times (September, April and May), finishing second in the top scorers table and being selected in the Hong Kong Top Footballer Best XI; additionally, he was also voted his team’s best player.

Citizen / S. China return

Detinho signed for fellow league club Citizen AA in 2009, aged 36. During the 2010–11 season, in a game against Sun Hei SC, he scored a hat-trick in a 5–4 triumph.^[7] He came on as a substitute in the campaign‘s Hong Kong Senior Challenge Shield, helping his team overturn a 0–3 deficit to draw the match 3–3, then win the match in a penalty shootout.^[8]

On 29 September 2014, Detinho rejoined South China.^[9] He received his Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card also in that year, after seven years of residence in the country.^[10]

He has scored over 100 goals playing in the Hong Kong Premier League.
